I was just playing around with some settings and saw that when I have the display mode in User Settings then Account if I have "latest activity" selected I couldn't see anybodies rank but then when I select "Posts" I can see peoples ranks. Not sure if this is a glitch or if it is supposed to do that but I wouldn't think it would change seeing or not seeing ranks.

Yes, it also happens to me. Not sure about this specific matter, but in these early days of learning the forum, errors occur when testing new features. The social "cubes" at the top, and the "5,671 people recommend this. Sign Up to see what your friends recommend." text is also out of whack.
