  • Windows Wallet Errors - Simple fix

Every now and then, your wallet may encounter and error due to premature shutdown, blackouts, upgrades etc.
As long as you always have your backup, you will never have lost anything.

#1 Procedure if you HAVE your backup in a safe place
    1. Uninstall Rimbit
    2. then go to C:\Users\*Your Account*\AppData\Roaming\Rimbit and delete everything in there.
    3. Install Rimbit again, and then go back into C:\Users\*Your Account*\AppData\Roaming\Rimbit and replace the wallet.dat file with your backup and make sure its named wallet.dat
    4. Restart Rimbit and it will start syncing and you then just need to exit when the blocks downlloading pauses for an extended time and restart Rimbit again (You will need to do this a few times)
#2 Procedure if you do not have a backup
    1. Go to C:\Users\*Your Account*\AppData\Roaming\Rimbit and locate the wallet.dat file
    2. Copy the wallet.dat file to your desktop or a folder on your PC, such as documents - In other words, copy it to a secure place that you will use for backups
    3. Uninstall Rimbit
    4. then go to C:\Users\*Your Account*\AppData\Roaming\Rimbit and delete everything in there.
    5. Install Rimbit again, and then go back into C:\Users\*Your Account*\AppData\Roaming\Rimbit and replace the wallet.dat file with your backup and make sure its named wallet.dat
    6. Restart Rimbit and it will start syncing and you then just need to exit when the blocks downlloading pauses for an extended time and restart Rimbit again (You will need to do this a few times)
Procedure if you deleted everything and do not have any form of backup or retrieving the old content
    1. You have lost it all
    2. If you have a windows.old folder (due to upgrading windows), you may be fortunate enough to have your wallet.dat file located in the archived folder, so if that the case, copy the wallet.dat file and store the copy in a safe place, then follow Procedure #2

    1) Hey Cyber Hippie, do you have a error fix for Windows 10 users? This process doesn't seem to work on my comp.

    2) On a side note I cannot login to Rimbit from my PC (Windows) and keeping getting these error message 1. When I click on retry or ignore I get Error message 2. Any thoughts?

    3) Is there a way to move a backed up wallet from PC to android app?

    Thanks
    Pharcyde

      Hi mate...
The fix works for all Windows....
      1. If you are reinstating a backup to C:\Users\*Your Account*\AppData\Roaming\Rimbit, make sure that you rename your .dat file to exactly wallet.dat as the wallet will only recognize that exact filename

      OR
      1. Make sure your Backup is in a safe place....
      2. Uninstall the Rimbit Wallet
      3. Delete the Rimbit Folder in C:\Users\*Your Account*\AppData\Roaming\Rimbit
      4. Download and install a new wallet
      5. Go to the newly create Rimbit folder at C:\Users\*Your Account*\AppData\Roaming\Rimbit and delete the newly created wallet.dat file (not your backup)
      6. Copy the backup to the newly created Rimbit folder at C:\Users\*Your Account*\AppData\Roaming\Rimbit
      7. Rename your backup .dat file to wallet.dat as it only recognizes that file name
As for moving a backup to Android, its possible, as you just need to place the wallet.dat file in the correct location in the APP, which I dont know... Perhaps someone will chime in...
I have moved a backup from Android to PC, but I dont know the file location as I simply used the Droid Wallets backup function

Thanks. I had to go into the folder options to show hidden items so I could see the appdata folder. It works now.

A quick tip here is to type %appdata% in the Windows menu and hit enter.

Thanks for that reminder... I completely forgot about hidden folders....

If you cannot find your APPDATA folder in the location as I explained on the original post, that is because its hidden and you need to unhide it.

How you do it can be found here http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...windows-vista/

I recently updated my wallet. I went many months without interest, and now it seems to be catching up. But my first confirmed transaction now is confirmed as only half as much and the other half is attributed to unconfirmed interest that is being validated. If you add the unconfirmed and confirmed amounts together it does correctly add up to my correct balance as it should be, it is just that more is attributed to unconfirmed now than should be.

My backup shows the right amounts, but was before a recent large deposit. Should I use procedure#2 or is this something that will sort itself out?

The unconfirmed amount is normal and part of minting. Once it has completed you will see all of your Rimbits as one total.
            Everyone Rimbit now.
