  • Backup your Wallet - IMPORTANT

The last thing anyone wants, is to lose the Rimbit they worked to get.
You can prevent loss by backing up your wallet and storing the backup in a secure location, such as an external drive, CD/DVD, USB Stick or ZIPPING the backup with a unique password and uploading it to the Cloud

So when you do have problems, you can use your backup to retrieve your Rimbit

The only thing that stops you backing up is yourself, so you only have yourself to blame if you lose your Rimbit

Is that last comment a bit aggressive? We hope so, because its true and you need to understand it

Lastly, nobody, including management, cannot.. ever... reinstate a lost wallet if you have not backed up your wallet!

So remember, only you have the power to reinstate a wallet

It is so easy to back up - even I can do it without asking! I have a Windows wallet. On the wallet I go to File, then in the drop down there is the option backup wallet. I click this option. Up pops a screen asking where I want to save it. I always choose the PC and I save it with a sensible name like 29Nov2015 and it is given a .dat ending. I then do two things - I send it by email and I save it to a USB drive. I hope I never have to restore a wallet, but if I do, then since I am backing up every two weeks or so, I will only lose minor amounts of interest. Back up everyday and lose nothing!

So, it is simple to do and will save a lot of heartache when Rimbit hits $10 Do it!

Make sure that when you restore a wallet... that you copy the .dat file back to your APPDATA folder that you rename it wallet.dat

This is such an important step. After I received the rimbit I purchased, my computer died. Was it fate? Maybe. Fortunate for me I backed up my rimbit on an external, so no sob story
Hmmm.. maybe I'll get a Pi so I don't have to worry about it...

Well done! Back up is so easy, so vital yet so many do not bother and I am not just talking about rimbit wallets either. Hopefully a back up is never needed, but it is great to have one when something goes wrong.
